Dark Chocolate Turtle Brownies

I know what you're thinking, these look ridiculous. I don't think there are any other brownies on earth that can compare to these. Super Bowl means two things: Chili and something crazy that Amarah decides to make.

The brownies would be good just by themselves (with the dark chocolate and all), but who eats a plain brownie?

My caramel wasn't as dark as I would have liked it to be, but whatever, caramel is caramel!

I love to replace walnuts with pecans. Pecans have SO much more flavor.

Oh, wow. Who needs football? I have brownies!

Dark Chocolate Turtle Brownies
(Brownies adapted from Craving Chronicles)

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 heaping cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cup dark cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Caramel
Pecan Halves
Melted Dark Chocolate
Sea Salt

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare a 9 x 11 pan.
2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat, add the sugar. Return the butter mixture to the heat briefly, just until it’s hot, but not bubbling.
3. In a separate bowl, crack 2 eggs and beat them with the cocoa, salt, baking powder, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Stir the hot butter mixture into the egg mixture until smooth, add the flour. Let this mixture cool in the fridge for 20 minutes.
5. Add the pecans and chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean, with some moist crumbs but no loose batter. Cool.
6. Top with caramel and place into the freezer until caramel has slightly hardened. Top with pecan halves, a dark chocolate drizzle and sea salt.
